Our Services

As an emissions broker, we bring together buyers and sellers of emission units.

Domestic and international greenhouse gas trading schemes are affected by a range of political, technical and economic factors ranging from the future direction of the Kyoto Protocol, allocation mechanisms, CER ownership obligations, project risk and verification processes, down to spot fuel prices and day-to-day weather conditions.

We can help you to understand pricing parameters and market conditions to get the best deal possible relative to your carbon trading position.

Our emissions trading services include:

Developing buying and selling strategies

We are able to access the right buyers and sellers for your organisation

If you are looking to buy emission units to achieve carbon neutrality or to meet Kyoto or regulatory obligations, we will help you to find reliable sellers whose emission units enable you to meet your objectives.

If you have emission units to sell, we are able to access prospective buyers, and to tailor your selling strategy to different buyers’ needs. Such buyers can include:

  • Governments that are looking to meet their Kyoto Protocol requirements;
  • Corporates that are looking to meet regulated emissions trading requirements (such as EU ETS linking);
  • Financial market players developing carbon funds or an emissions portfolio position for voluntary and regulated markets.

Finding buyers for carbon credits from NZ Projects to Reduce Emissions

Having trouble finding buyers for your carbon credits from NZ Projects to Reduce Emissions?

Contact Us - We can help. We have access to both international and domestic buyers for these emissions units.

Finding sellers of carbon offsets to become carbon neutral

An increasing number of voluntary offset allowances are now being traded. They are a recognised way for organisations to offset their carbon footprint and become carbon neutral.

We can source units from carbon offset projects either directly or through CantorCO2e and the Climate Warehouse. To manage reputational risk, all offsets held by the Climate Warehouse will be issued by either a governmental agency or managed in accordance with the internationally recognised Voluntary Carbon Standard.

Bundling of small emission unit volumes for trading

We enable holders of small numbers of emission units to access the international markets by aggregating units.

By bundling your parcel of emission units with those of other sellers with related units, we can reduce your transaction costs and negotiate the best deal possible for your emissions units.

Providing price information to benchmark trades

We can provide transparency in what is often an ambiguous market

Emissions trading is not a pure commodity business. While prices can be transparent, terms of trade are not. It’s vital that, when buying or selling emission units, organisations understand project risks, volume and verification risks and legal ownership of the allowances. We will help you to understand who contractually assumes these risks and how they are subsequently valued to ensure your trading strategy will meet your Kyoto obligations.

Scoping emission trade requirements to prepare term sheets

By understanding your position and requirements, we are able to scope out and prepare a term sheet outlining your allowance profile and position, market obligations and subsequent verification requirements along with any timing constraints.

Broking emissions trades

We bring together buyers and sellers (both domestically and internationally) to facilitate the trading of emissions allowances.

Providing standard industry contracts

By using NZCX as your emissions trading broker, you can be confident that you will get the best terms and be well protected

There are a raft of commercial and industry templates in the market place. We can provide advice on the appropriate selection of these, and guidance on commercial terms to be incorporated. We will ensure that you are well protected and that you get the best terms available. This helps to reduce your overall risk.
