What I do
My in-depth and up-to-date understanding of climate change policy and
emissions trading design, enables me to interpret and understand the
related risks and opportunities for individual companies and organisations looking to buy carbon
credits. I provide sellers with the best possible opportunity to get
value from their abated emissions, and help buyers to purchase the right
number of emission units at the right price.
My expertise
I started out working in process engineering in the international
energy sector, and first became involved with climate change issues in
1999. Between 2001 and 2003 I project managed the first ever NZ
Negotiated Greenhouse Agreement for The New Zealand Refining Company (NZRC),
before establishing New Zealand’s leading climate change consulting
firm, Frazer
Lindstrom Ltd.
What I enjoy about what I do
I enjoy resolving strategic problems and negotiating on behalf of my
clients. I seek to identify common ground and achieve the best deal for
both parties. I also work hard to establish solid, long-term business
relationships with my clients.
What I enjoy outside of work
I love spending time with my five year old daughter. I also enjoy
travelling, mountaineering and cycling but don’t get out nearly as much
as I would like to! I am also a keen photographer and a motor racing
enthusiast.
Examples of Climate Change work
- I regularly advise major industry players on their climate
change strategies and emissions trading design parameters. I enjoy
the close relationships I have with the clients and how we work
together to find the most suitable and individually tailored
strategies.
- I developed and implemented NZRC's strategy in response to the Government’s new climate
change policy and tightening fuel specifications. This work was
successfully completed in April 2003, with the signing of the 1st
ever NZ Negotiated Greenhouse Agreement (NGA) and the approval of
the NZ$180 million NZ Future Fuels Project. I really enjoyed working
at the Government/Business interface and the challenge of working in
un-chartered territory with incredibly complex technical and policy
issues. It was fantastic to deliver the NGA on time, and with
successful outcomes for both the Government and NZRC.
- I project managed and co-authored the Business Energy Outlook
2050 publication released in September 2005. I really enjoyed being involved in
compiling such a timely document, which succinctly covers a huge
amount of information relating to what is probably one of the most
important issues for New Zealand presently.
- I am frequently asked to speak at conferences on climate change
issues. I enjoy the challenge of taking an audience through what are
often complex and multi-facetted policy issues.
